A post about the logo of the Percy Jackson Disney+ series
I'm going to start by pointing out that I'm beyond excited for a more faithful adaptation of my all-time favorite book series.
That being said, I found the logo choice quite... interesting.
Let me explain.
I should start by saying that I absolutely hated the two film adaptations- they didn't do the book series justice at all.
And they were titled "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" and either "The Lightning Thief" or "The Sea of Monsters".
Getting back to the Disney+ series, the logo and title looks eerily similar to the logo choice for the second "film" in the series.
In my non-counting opinion as the non-creator of the Disney+ series, I think the series should be renamed as "The Half-Blood Chronicles" for a couple reasons (which I think I already mentioned, but I'll list them out here):
1. A visual/literal/figurative separation from the two (failed attempts at) movie remakes.
2. It establishes the demigod world as bigger then just how Percy views it.
3. It lines the series up for more than five seasons, as the sixth book introduces the concept of Roman gods (I'd watch fifteen seasons of the show if I'm the only person that makes that commitment- I'm that big of a fan of the books).
4. It also sets up potential tie-ins with not only Chinese mythology but also Egyptian (Kane Chronicles), Norse (Magnus Chase), and even the Korean and Mayan mythology in the Rick Riordan Presents library.
That being said, I'd like to close by saying that I don't care how long it takes to get the series to the screen- as long as it's not forever, since I'm not immortal like some of Riordan's characters.
