What do I want to see in the Harry Potter TV series?
If they're putting a series together where each book is one season and each chapter equates to one episode...
Lavender Brown cast correctly at the start, and not just as an African-American girl in the second film. I think this one's self-explanatory.
A Chamber of Secrets Easter egg in the first season. When Harry and Ron are in the trophy room for a duel with Malfoy, the camera should linger on Tom Riddle's award.
Ernie Macmillan and Peeves. Ernie was one of the more pompous book characters alongside Percy, while Peeves' presence was effectively entirely limited to the books- both of which were a real shame.
I'd like to see book Harry and book Ron's characters a bit more. Harry did have a snarky side that the movies seemed to gloss over some times, while Ron's character became what was essentially comic relief in the movies.
*Plus Ron's crush on Madam Rosmerta would be really amusing to see on screen.
In what would be season six (Half-Blood Prince), I'd like to see the meeting between Prime Ministers rather than the bridge being destroyed. This scene in the book is a good way to establish how even the Muggle world is beginning to notice something's amiss- and if I'm remembering correctly this was actually a montage reviewing instances from the first couple of installments.
*Not to mention, of course, Death Eaters usually don't fly.
In movie six, why was the Burrow destroyed? It was a cheap action scene that contributed nothing to the plot.
Please, when they get to Half-Blood Prince, don't make Ginny tie Harry's shoes. A strong, independent-willed witch like Ginevra Weasley shouldn't be reduced to doing that.
I'd like to see a more developed Harry-Ginny relationship. It was actually a slow-burn process from about book two whereas in the movies it was cobbled together in the sixth installment.
*And I'd like to see Ginny's Bat-Bogey Hex.
I also think the series shouldn't have Rowling's input- not writing, not directing, not producing, not executive producing, not a voice role, not showrunning, nothing.
