Observations on the MCU

What happens to the Flag Smashers movement now? Well, they're not going away, as they're pretty widespread. Look at how many people had the app. Look at the soldier who was part of the group. My guess is that they'll wait for the right moment to come out of the woodwork- and they'll have plenty of motivation after the death of Karli Morgenthau.  Will we ever see White Vision again? And where is he? The finale episode of WandaVision saw White Vision flying off... somewhere, although we don't know where he went. And we didn't see him in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier , either. He could've gone to any number of places, but what I'm thinking is a few places that might be of consequence in the MCU moving forward. New York City seems like the obvious choice, as that's been the setting of the Battle of New York in 2012 in addition to the two MCU Spider-Man movies (that have already been released).  Scotland, apparently, is the home of New Asgard from Av...

Grab Bag

Aquaman 2 has cast a Game of Thrones alum in an unspecified role. Episode 5 of Mighty Ducks: Game Changers was written by Matthew Carlson- the first episode he's written for the series- and will release on Disney+ on Friday.  *It's worth noting that among his other works, he wrote the 1994 film Wagons East .  Grey's Anatomy will see the return of April Kepner on May 6th.   A character last seen in season four of Peaky Blinders will appear in season six, the sendoff season.  Netflix: The upcoming fourth season of Castlevania will be its final season but spinoffs are being discussed.  The cast is filling out for the untitled spinoff of The Boys , which will focus on a superhero-in-training college run by Vought.  She-Hulk is currently filming and as for Captain Marvel 2 , second unit filming has begun and principal photography I believe will start May 31st.  Comic books: Moon Knight #1 will arrive July 7th while Power Rangers #6 will arrive...

Why the MCU shouldn't recast T'Challa

T'Challa should remain Chadwick Boseman's role, and- at least in my opinion- casting another actor sort of dampens his legacy in that regard. I don't want this to be the same thing as Bruce Banner (remember Edward Norton in Incredible Hulk ?) or James Rhodes (remember Terrence Howard in Iron Man ?). One, and only one, person should portray T'Challa- the late Chadwick Boseman. Not having a T'Challa in the Black Panther sequel will allow the cast to grieve and mourn and honor- whichever they feel is appropriate- the life and legacy of both T'Challa (when cameras are rolling) and Chadwick (when cameras aren't rolling). Adding another actor as T'Challa- I think- would provide a "back to business as usual" vibe whereas keeping T'Challa's spot in Wakanda empty would allow the grieving process to continue on the actors' terms before, during and after filming, which in this regard I think is important.

Falcon/Winter Soldier Aftermath

What upcoming MCU projects (at least three) can The Falcon and the Winter Soldier tie in to? Here are my ideas... 1. Black Panther 2 I say this because Marvel usually has long-running plans for what is gradually becoming an ever-expanding and ever-intertwined universe. In other words, they very rarely have dangling storylines. So why would they introduce the Dora Milaje in Episode 4 of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and not have that connected to the Black Panther sequel?  2. Armor Wars Essentially the only thing we know about this series is that it will feature James Rhodes confronting the reality that Tony Stark's tech falls into the wrong hands. What if this means John Walker himself, who I assume will start Falcon/Winter Soldier Episode 5 going rogue?  3. Captain Marvel 2 OR Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania If I'm being honest, this is probably the most out-there idea, but I'm putting it out there simply because of the filming dates- both, I believe, start princi...

Potential composers for the Percy Jackson Disney+ series

A while back I posted about some people I'd like to see in the writers' room (not Craig Titley and Marc Guggenheim, since they wrote the two "films") as well as people I'd like to see in the directors' chair (not Chris Columbus or Thor Freudenthal, who directed the two "films").  So for this post, since I don't want Lightning Thief composer Christophe Beck (Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, WandaVision) or Sea of Monsters composer Andrew Lockington to help with the series, here's who I do want to potentially see. Alan Silvestri ( Captain America , The Avengers , Avengers: Infinity War , Avengers: Endgame )   Alexandre Desplat ( Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 2)   Brian Tyler ( Iron Man 3 , Thor: Dark World , co-composer on Avengers: Age of Ultron )  Craig Armstrong ( Incredible Hulk )  Danny Elfman (co-composer on Avengers: Age of Ultron ) Henry Jackman ( Captain America: Winter Soldier , Captain America: Civil War )  James Newton Howard ( Hunger ...

Grab Bag

The animated sitcom The Great North will drop Episode 8 on Sunday (8:30p Eastern on Fox). Warner Bros. announced that they're not moving forward with a planned Aquaman spinoff Trench film, which I was disappointed at as I felt like the Trench (and the creatures that inhabit it) should be explored more in-depth.  After a little more than a decade in print, Attack on Titan will drop its final chapter tomorrow.  The trailer for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season two introduces a couple of storylines, most notably (a) Ricky and Nini will be having a long-distance relationship with Nini at a theater conservatory, (b) East High will be putting on Beauty and the Beast for a musical competition against a rival high school, and (c) drama will almost certainly be arriving in the form of a new student.  Monday on The CW will see a backdoor pilot for the Black Lightning spinoff Painkiller .  Episode 2 of Home Economics will premiere Wednesday on ABC. Based...

The State of the MCU

The events of WandaVision happened just weeks after Endgame . Wanda Maximoff, being unsuccessful in her bid to retrieve Vision's body, travelled to Westview, New Jersey and not only trapped the entire town in a sitcom but created an entirely new version of Vision.  Nosy neighbor Agnes revealed herself to be Agatha Harkness, who escaped death during the Salem Witch Trials in the sixteenth century but was largely unaccounted for until showing up in Westview. It's also unexplained how she was able to have a magical basement under her house in the middle of the Hex.  Monica Rambeau went through the Hex three times and on her third trip gained super powers, which I believe will come into play in Captain Marvel 2 , in addition to the fact that she's heading to space anyway as she's most likely meeting Nick Fury. Also unexplained as of yet is why there's an apparent rift between Monica Rambeau and Carol Danvers. WandaVision concluded with Wanda trapping Agatha back in he...

MCU location-based TV shows

In addition to Wakanda, what other MCU locations could get spinoff TV series? Apparently, there was a tiny city visible in the quantum realm in 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp which explains Janet's survival. Wouldn't it be cool to set a TV show there?   Introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy back in 2014 was Knowhere, which is a mining outpost in the severed head of a Celestial (much like Peter Quill's dad Ego)  There's also Asgard from the Thor trilogy, although it would have to be set pre-2017 as Asgard was destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok . Similarly, New Asgard, first seen in Avengers: Endgame , would make a good second-part series.  The Middle East village Gulmira, first and last seen in 2008's Iron Man , would be an interesting locale to write a TV show about.  So too would Madripoor- it was introduced in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode three and we don't know all that much about it aside from the fact that it's still very much pirate culture ...

Why the DCEU needs a Trench movie

When news broke that DC wouldn't be moving forward (at least not yet) with the Aquaman spinoff The Trench in favor of other projects, I was disappointed. Here's why: I don't want DC to fall into the same trap Marvel has (I don't mean overall- MCU films are insanely well-written and very interconnected). What I'm talking about is when they introduce something and then skate past it so it's not necessarily mentioned in future installments. Take, for instance, cellular biologist Dr. Samuel Sterns from Incredible Hulk (or Betty Ross, for that matter).  And, for that instance, Rio, which was an important location in the first half of that film, wasn't touched on again from that point. So we don't know how Rio's faring in the scheme of the MCU.  Gulmira was first (and last) seen in 2008's Iron Man - first mentioned as Yinsen's home village and then seen when Tony Stark defeats the terrorists- but there's no mention of it from that point on. S...
